A Few More Goodn's

Just a few more from our tromp through the city.  How all good travelers do it these days: navigation via IPad:

A good reason to NOT bring a leopard rolly bag to go backpacking through a few countries.  I think she learned her lesson as soon as we hit the mass crowds in the Arab Quarter.  Don't let this fool you, by the end we were carting a huge mirror, coffee set, mugs and my favorite, a huge knife that she thought would be a good idea to purchase.  All in the name of tourism, C-Smith...this is also a pic of the streets at 1am sans tourists and shwarma.

We also visited the Wall on Shavuot, a holiday here in Israel.  Everyone flocks to the wall at midnight to start the celebration.  I wish I could say we made it that late, but I decided to play with a cat earlier that day and couldnt breathe by the time 12 rolled around.  Here is a pic of some Jews we decided to follow down the alley (multiply that by hundreds and that was what it looked like), and the dreaded Muslim cat from our hotel.


We spent some time at the Western Wall and then decided to take me even further outside my comfort zone and cross over to see the Dome of the Rock.  It was actually beautiful on the other side, and until then, I didnt even realize you could visit.  There are certain times when non-Muslims can visit; I decided to leave my "I Work for Birthright Israel" tshirt at home that day.



It was an amazing week in Israel, getting to play tour guide and trying some things I never would have dreamed. Next up is Greece where I have been DYING to visit since I saw Mama Mia. Haha..just kidding, it was at least a week before I saw the movie that I got the idea.

    Believe it or not... that damn mirror that we lugged with us through multiple countries (Israel, Greece, Germany, USA), the one that didn't fit in any bags.. Looking back, you couldn't pay me to lug that thing- big purchase mistake! I took it out of the box when I got home and it was broken :( Not the mirror part, just the frame. UUUhhh.

Yes, finally. We found it. The combination of Thai Drag Queens (Lady Boys) and American show tunes. That, paired with Thai Mexican food, and I had quite a night in Chiang Rai! While mom devoured a whole fish and I tried to keep my food down from looking at the fried cockroaches, we enjoyed a delicious LadyBoy show, which you should as well, below: They were fab and we loved them. The best was when they would yell at each other to bow and to step right instead of left. No matter what country, a diva is a diva. Yesterday, mom had the genius idea instead of taking a 4 hour bus ride straight from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, we would instead do a tour and just have them drop us at the end. Just to the Right of Burning Man

 And we venture!  After making a few necessary pit stops, Target for a car seat so Noah could face forward, In n’ Out because, um, Noah needed it, we pointed to the East and said, sure, why not.   Our first few hours were great indications for how a lot of this road trip will go.  Breaking out the good snacks already and yelling to each other “we’re doing it!!!!”.   Then immediately burning through all the toys I brought for this little boy and learning that as much as I plan and researched all the top ten lists of best road trip toys, there is nothing like the reality of sitting in the back of an RV while your kid screams at you to bring you right back down to offline life.    Peaceful snooze for a few hours, thank goodness  Our RV, while comfy and immediately homey, sounds like a maraca inside a wind tunnel.  So, all toys with any portion of audible enjoyment are out.  Great.  And all my magnetic tiles and letters that I pictured Noah playing with endlessly to create the words he lov

There's Kimchee Everywhere!!

Yesss...12 hour flight down, another 4 hour flight to go until Bangkok! I am in probably the cleanest airport I have ever placed foot in; im nervous to be here cause I feel like they are going to bust me for not showering in the last 15 minutes. My mom and I keep looking at eachother saying, "what are we doing here?? Are we really doing this trip?". I love that I get to share this with her, this is for sure the ballsy-est trip we have ever done. So far I want to eat everything in sight and put as many spicy sauces on it to burn my tongue until I return to the states in 2 months. I also feel like there was a time I thought I was semi-trendy with my fashion; now I am being put to shame and we aren't even out of the airport yet. More to come soon, see you in Bangkok!
